പി.കെ. പാറക്കടവിന്റെ കഥകൾ വായിച്ചപ്പോൾ ‘ചെറുതാണ് സുന്ദരം’ എന്ന എന്റെ വിശ്വാസം ഒന്നുകൂടി ബലപ്പെട്ടു. രബീന്ദ്രനാഥ ടാഗോറിന്റെയും ഖലീൽ ജിബ്രാന്റെയും കൃതികളിലൂടെ പോകുമ്പോൾ അനുഭവിക്കാറുള്ള സന്തോഷം ആത്മഹർഷം ഒന്നുകൂടി അനുഭവപ്പെടുകയുണ്ടായി. മൊസാർട്ടിന്റെ സംഗീതത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് പ്രശസ്തനായ ഒരു പാശ്ചാത്യനിരൂപകൻ പറഞ്ഞത് ഞാൻ ഓർക്കുന്നു: ‘Great music can never be explained – it has to be experienced’. എത്ര ശരി! ഈ നിരൂപകന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ പാറക്കടവിന്റെ കഥകൾക്കും യോജിക്കുന്നു.
