A novel of action, anguish, poignant humor and ultimate hope as two complete strangers are brought together in a medical miracle Complications from liver cirrhosis bring a middle-aged businessman close to death in Kochi, India. In a nearby town, a young man suffers a horrible accident on his way to work. How these two lives intersect is the subject of Transplant Story, a novel of astonishing scope and intimacy that takes you into ICUs, hospital administration offices, and even the operation theater as a liver transplant, one of the most complex operations known today, is performed. In lucid prose Transplant Story clarifies difficult medical concepts and procedures and examines the historical, political, and legal factors surrounding transplantation in India today. Through an unforgettable cast of characters, Transplant Story asks you to explore the deep mysteries of human life: what it means to love, to give, to sacrifice, to hope-what it means to make medical miracles possible.
