Presently, after another seven decades o* death, his life and thoughts have transcended the passgeof tiftnhe7 With rare photographs detailing the life and times of Mahatma Gandhi, this book not only portrays the birth of a shy boy, his early years and education, his experiments with truth through his various movements-first in South Africa and then in India, but also the story of the intensive Indian Freedom Struggle of 20th century, of wh ich he was the main architect. This book was first brought out in 1954 by Publications Division, Ministry of Infarnation & Broadcasting, taking photographs from the Sarvodaya Divas Pradarshni organised at Rajghat in January 1949 to mark the first anniversary of Gandhiji% death. An abridged version of the album was published in 1969 to commemorate the Centenary birth anniversary of Bapu. This heritage ptiblication, with image support from National Gandhi Museum, New Delhi, is now again been brought out in its original 1954 edition with improved production quality and tasteful presentation. This is Publications Division's humble homage to Mahatma during Gandhi@l50 commemoration by the Government of India.
