നൂറ്റിയന്പത് വര്ഷങ്ങള്ക്കു മുൻപ് ജീവിച്ചിരുന്ന ഡ്രാക്കുള പ്രഭുവിനെക്കുറിചു ഇപ്പോൾ എന്തിനു ഓർമ്മിക്കുന്നു. അയാൾ മരിച്ചു അടക്കം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടു കഴിഞ്ഞതാണ്. എന്നാൽ ട്രാന്സിവാനിയയിലെ ഗ്രാമീണരുടെ ഇടയിൽ അവൻ മരിച്ചതായി വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവരില്ല. അവൻ ഇപ്പോഴുമുണ്ടെന്നും,രാത്രിയിലെ ചില യാമങ്ങളിൽ അവൻ ഉണരുമെന്നും,താഴ്വരയിലെത്തി സുന്ദരികളായ യുവതികളെ തട്ടിക്കൊണ്ട് പോകാറുണ്ടെന്നും അവർ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു.
ശ്രീ കോട്ടയം പുഷ്പനാഥ് ഡ്രാക്കുളയെ കേന്ദ്രകഥാപാത്രമാക്കിയും ട്രാൻസിൽവാനിയ പശ്ചാത്തലമാക്കിയും 1979ൽ രചിച്ച കൃതിയാണ് ഡ്രാക്കുള ഉണരുന്നു.
