TWO BOOKS : 1) KERALA IN TRANSITION ANSD 2 ) TRAILS : A JOURNEY THROUGH BAKER BUILDINGS WERE PUBLISHED

Name of book: Trails: a journey through Baker buildings

Authors: Multiple

Published: Laurie Baker Centre, COSTFORD

The book ‘ Trails: a journey through Baker buildings’ is a joint endeavour of Laurie Baker Centre and COSTFORD to document and highlight a varied sample of 33 buildings designed and built either under the individual capacity of prominent humanist and architect Laurie Baker himself or under his mentorship (through COSTFORD) and as part of his legacy after he passed on. The book; designed in the form of a journey that was the life and legacy of Baker, adopts a light hearted approach through sketches, illustrations, photographs and short descriptions to draw light on the grave issue of building a sustainable system which encompasses all aspects of living including building construction. The subject matter has been carefully curated in the hope to inspire discussions on relevant topics such as low energy building technologies, eco-friendly construction materials and public policies in favour of developing green habitats.

Authors: Multiple

‘Kerala in Transition’ is an amalgamation of essays on economy, polity and society by an array of authors, scholars, social activists, media persons, cartoonists and administrators and edited by distinguished economist Dr. K.P Kannan. The book explores issues and ideas central to a state distinguished by an ever changing scape of societal movements and developments. The essays offer impassive observations and discussions on subjects such as education, health, housing, politics, literature, arts, society and people’s movements and media.
