It's a descriptive book without any illustrations or pictures and it does not cover much on odissi dance technique. But has an interesting encounter on terminologies, costumes, jewellery of Odissi dance. It speaks of some of the male and female Odissi dancers and issues they faced and their contribution to the field. It touches very briefly on several ancient scripts of Odissi dance and music which is valuable for the students to know. Interesting book for a coffee-table read for pupils of Odissi dance and maestros. |
