Theatre is such an art where the presence of artist himself and the on-looker is inevitable. Without this condition no
theatrical performance is possible. It means as the two parties (artist and spectator) come to the proximity of each other,
this art will be living. Regretful it is that wwheen the artist acts on the proscenium stage being separated from the on-
looker whose seat is far from the artist, consequently the two stay beyond the reach from each other, this art becomes
almost inanimate which is inadvarant for this living art form. The spectator is totally deprived of the minute and prim facial
expression of the actor through which he tries to interpret the character he enacts. we must consider that the 'art of
acting' without which the theatre art becomes meaningless is the soul of art. But the mien of the artist and every subtle
nuance of his full body which are indispensable to paint the heart of his character remain undiscovered to the spectator
from his seat afar in proscenium theatre. It is the shortcoming of this kind of theatre. Only the weapon of Intimate Theatre
can vanquish the demon of such shortcoming. It can fulfill the hunger of the on-looker who wants to relish the essence of
this art as this genre of theatre is performed, almost being intermingled with thee spectators. Here the question of any
raised so called stage does not arise because it requires only a space either indoor or outdoor. This geographical
togetherness can resuscitate the theatre liberating it from the bondage of four walls (the front one is imaginary) of
proscenium setup. Probably it is clear that Intimate Theatre is inn quest of actual living art in theatre and more intimacy
with the spectators so that it can penetrate the message of the play into their hearts. This book deals with this subjec elaborately.
