<br/><br/> Education had been a vital agent of bringing about change in the hill districts of Manipur during the first part of the 20th century. Realising the important role played by education in improving the living conditions of the people, today, people in the region yearn for education.<br/>Due to the deterioration of government schools, the growing private schools have put unbearable financial hardships on the parents, who make every effort to send their wards to such schools. This could have been avoided with some appropriate measures by the government to improve school education. Moreover, there are several areas of education in the hills of Manipur, which needs serious attention  to meet the challenges of the changing time.
